Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

All praise to Almighty Allah who has blessed you with Imaan. May Allah keep you steadfast and guide you towards good, Ameen.

At the outset, you state that you were in love with a Muslim girl. You also state that in order for her to accept you as a husband you have accepted her religion. It is obvious that her family will view your accepting Islam in that way.

Nevertheless, since you are sincere in accepting Islam, you should firstly make a firm intention that whatever happens, you will not forsake your Deen. You have been guided by Allah and should resolve that I will remain a Muslim even though I do not marry this girl.

Seeing your level of steadfastness and your commitment in following Deen, it is possible that her family will reconsider their position. However, it is important that you terminate all forms of contact with her as you are not married to her. According to the Laws of Allah, a man cannot have any contact (physical or otherwise) with a strange woman with whom marriage is lawful. Your abstention from having contact with her will be a clear indication of your commitment to the Laws of Allah and this could be a deciding factor in your predicament.

And Allah knows best
