Title

if he misses 3 jumah does he leave the fold of islam

Question

when a person is schoolin and his school goes out about 3:ooh and jumah prayer is at 1:00h,by this he misses jumah,now if he misses 3 jumah does he leave the fold of islam

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

We commend you for your concern. A person missing three jumma prayers does not leave the fold of Islam (become a kafir). However, jumma prayer is a very important occasion in the life of every muslim. We understand that you are schooling but, this is not a valid excuse for missing jumma prayer.

Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) is reported to have said;

Whoever leaves out three jumma prayers without an excuse Allah Ta’ala will seal his heart of all good. (and is doing an act of hypocrisy) (Abu Dawood.Vol.1.Pg.151.H.M.Saeed).

As such we suggest the following;

1) There should be other muslim students going for jumma whom you can go along with. Therefore;

2) Request the principal of the school for time off for jumma prayer (it being a religious reason) and attend the closest masjid to your school. Generally government schools of give consent for this.

3) Alternatively if this is not possible, then you can transfer to a school which is closer to a masjid.
