Question

In the past of history of islam, it is already a fifth madhhab, who follow their own view and reject the 4 schools of thoughts?

salafi are they ahl al sunnah or not, are they on the right path?

are there any similarities between Ghair muqaleed (salafiyya) and Zahiri school (al-madhhab al-zahiri), al-madhhab al-Dawudi what were the causes of its collapse?

Can you give us some examples of the error to adopt these views, what is the void that go against the four schools on subject such as: Aqeedah, nikah, sawm, wudhu, salat, zakat, talaq, hajj.

A complete response with academic references (your madhhab) would go deeper appreciation for my research.

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

“For many centuries, the scholars of Islam were unanimous about the legitimacy of the four Mazaahib, and about making Taqleed thereof. The rulings that were concurred upon by the four Mazaahib were practiced by the entire ummah without exception. During the last century a group emerged that began diverting people away from the four Mazaahib and their Taqleed. The custodians of this sedition, through devious and alluring arguments, began encouraging people to refer directly to the Quráan and books of Hadith, without the need of the authorities and prior scholars. They even went to the extent of regarding those who refer to the deductions of the scholars and authorities as abandoning the Quráan and the Sunnah of Rasulullah r. In a subtle way, they create an impression that the teachings of the illustrious Imaams were different to the teachings of the Quráan and the Sunnah of our Beloved Rasulullah r.’’

[Who are the Blind Followers? Pg.5]

The belief of the Dawudis or Zaahiris is that a person is only required to practice upon the Zaahir [apparent meaning] of the Quráan and Hadith and is absolved of practicing on that which is not apparent. In the same manner a person who is not a muqallid will practice only on what is his interpretation of the Qur’aan and Sunnah.

The root of all the errors of the Ghair Muqallidun is that they, in spite of not possessing the qualifications of Ijtihaad, refuse to make Taqleed of a Mujtahid. This serves as the base of their deviation.
